About

Carter Fest was an idea that grew and blossomed out of a negative.

On Saturday April 13th, our friend Errol Carter experienced paralysis in his legs whilst running. He lost all sensation, strength and feeling in his lower body resulting in a collapse. In the 2 weeks that followed this he had 2 emergency spinal surgeries aimed at preventing permanent paralysis. Despite the surgeries he has suffered permanent nerve and nearological damage, impacting the quality of his life significantly. He is still in hospital and is expected to remain in hospital for a minimum of 6 - 9 months.

Errol's condition Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) is a rare and severe neurological condition that affects only 6 people per million in the UK, Errol has had it twice in just 2 weeks. This condition severely disrupts physical abilities, mobility, bladder, bowel & sexual function.

Errol has been informed by specialists that he will remain hospitalised for a minimum of 6-9 months. The nerve damage and recovery is unpredictable. typically taking 6 - 24 months. The NHS waiting time for aftercare rehabilitation is 15 months. The delay is far too long, which is why Errol is seeking private treatment to start his rehabilitation before it is too late.
